"Poster Boyz" in Telugu, the film will be directed by Gopi Ganesh, and it will go on floors in September.
Post the success of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali, Tollywood has
garnered B-Town's attention. After Karan Johar, who produced Baahubali's
Hindi version, now Akshay Kumar
has turned co-producer for a Telugu film. The film is a remake of the
hit Marathi film Poshter Boyz. It is said that Akshay Kumar will be
co-producing the film with action star Rana Daggubati, best known for
playing the negative lead role in Baahubali.
"Rana
and I have been great friends since 'Baby', and he's always told me how
Telugu audiences appreciate films with good content. Hence, we decided
to remake 'Poshter Boyz' in Telugu," Akshay said in a statement. The
Marathi language original was directed by Sameer Patil and co-written
by Patil and Charudatta Bhagwat.Bollywood star Shreyas Talpade took the
reigns of production in his hands and the film turned out to be
successful at the box office. The film, which starred Dilip
Prabhavalkar, Hrishikesh Joshi and Aniket Vishvasrao, definitely managed
to wow the audience.
Titled Poster Boyz in Telugu, the film will be directed by Gopi Ganesh, and it will go on floors in September. Auditions for the cast have already begun in Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad, although no one has been finalised yet.
The Marathi version of the film is a satirical comedy about three guys of different age group trying to promote vasectomy and the humility they face because of that. The film was lauded by both audience and the critics for the content and the humor. Akshay and Rana would certainly be counting on the good content of the film that impressed the audience in the original.
This is not Akshay's first as a producer in the sphere of regional cinema. In 2013 the actor produced the Marathi film 72 Miles - Ek Pravas and more recently he took charge of Gauri Karekar Sarwate's Antar.
